On my trip, I discovered that thereis a chain of record shops in California called Rasputin Music. Rasputin was basically a guy that lived in Russia at the turn of the 20th Century. He was really controversial because he came to have a lot of influence over the Russian Royal Family at the time. He said he could see the future and certainly lived a ‘lively’ lifestyle. In the end he was murdered, but only after several failed attempts that would have killed anyone else. You can read about him (and it is interesting) here.
Anyway, the people in California that run this chain have imagined what he would look like if he were alive today (but the same age as he was then) and working as a DJ. Then they stuck him on signs outside their shops. Unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to go in one, but pretty neat, huh? Also….
they have Starbucks drive-thrus now in America so you don’t even have to get out of your car when ordering your half-fat non-sugar decaf cinnamon dolce latte or whatever it is called.
