In the Highland Park area of where my family live in Dallas, people go a bit crazy for Christmas. To the extent that companies organise tours round the Christmas displays in peoples’ gardens. Here are the best ones I have seen this year….
I like this one. It is Santa selling tickets for a carousel with Christmassy people on it. What you can’t see in the picture is that the carousel actually goes round and round. There is no Jesus / Santa confusion going on, so overall this is probably my favourite.
This is like a monster display – there is so much of it that I couldn’t actually get it all in one photo, so some of it is missing. There is actually a big chain of wooden reindeer round the other side of the garden. Now at first this all looks ok, because again there is no Santa / Jesus confusion going on, but if you look closely, you can see this….
There are three things which are confusing about this.
- What has a bear got to do with Christmas. Is it some Christmassy character I am not aware of?
- The models are just weird. They are like 80s models, and the lady seems to be wiggling her hips.
- What is in the Gingerbread House?
So that gets my award for weirdest Christmas display. I am not saying it is bad, I’m just saying it is weird. All is forgiven if it is old people that have made the display.
